What is STEAM?

STEAM education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. STEAM education allows students to take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.

Why STEAM?

STEAM reflects our commitment to providing a comprehensive and forward-thinking education. In a rapidly evolving world, STEAM education equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the future. By embracing STEAM, we empower our students to excel academically, contribute meaningfully to society, and live out their faith in a world that constantly calls for critical thinking and innovation. FBA is excited to incorporate STEAM into our student academic life.

Daily Enrichment Classes

Bible:

God's Word is alive and interactive, so learning about the Bible should be, too! FBA students are blessed to be able to learn about God's Word through engaging Bible stories, songs, movement and dance, & memorizing scriptures. Scriptures are not just memorized, they are discussed & even made to be hands-on when applicable. FBA strives to give our students wisdom & understanding so that they can absorb the heart of the scripture.

Physical Education:

FBA believes in the importance of staying active & strong to gain the energy and the capacity we need to serve God, love others, and carry out daily responsibilities. FBA's goal is to foster the natural energy of a child into a life-long love for staying active & healthy.

Each day of P.E. at FBA brings a new daily dose of fun for all! Two days a week are dedicated to the current unit (i.e. soccer, pickleball, kickball, basketball, t-ball, etc). The remainder of the week is broken up into Mile Club Monday, Workout Wednesday, & Free-Play Friday.

Weekly Enrichment Classes

STEM/Robotics:

Students are introduced to the VEX 123 Robot. These tools will be used in the classroom to help bring STEM learning to life, and incorporate STEM concepts into a wide range of content areas throughout the course of the school year. Students learn about what Robots are and how they can use them to accomplish a goal.

Students are given opportunities to integrate communications, problem-solving, social skills, and scientific thinking as they learn about this new tool and what it means within the context of their classroom learning environment.

Art:

“Art is the highest form of Hope.”

FBA students learn an appreciation of the arts through a variety of materials and techniques that reflect the seven elements of art. Each month, students learn about a popular artist and are encouraged to imitate the artist's techniques.

Missions:

Students learn to see God's heart for the Nations as they systemically walk through biblical stories from Genesis to Revelation. Students learn how to hear God's love for all people through Bible stories that many have heard their whole lives.

Two main focuses of Missions class are The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and what the Gospel is. Students must learn to first become a disciple in order to make disciples.

Students also dive into learning about Heroes of the Faith & current real-life missionaries serving around the world through real pictures & videos of the cultures they are serving in.

Music:

Each week in music, FBA students participate in learning a hymn of the month, a composer of the month, vocal exploration, singing games, matching pitch, and movement activities. They also have several performances throughout the year, including Christmas programs and Night of the Arts. Students are encouraged to experience the joy and appreciation of music by gaining foundational knowledge and skills through singing, dancing, and playing instruments.
